I am responsible for ensuring the scheduling platform has sufficient support and capacity to provide the level of service expected of the customers using the system. I am the design authority for all software and hardware that uses this system. Working for a leading communications company, I am responsible for generating technical design documents that detail product hardware and software requirements. I matrix manage a team of engineers and provide guidance and advice to managers where required. I am the primary technical consultant for all product sales. I provide the design and architecture of all software elements that constitute the product family, often writting large portions of the software elements. I have written all the Scheduling software for the product as well as the front end software presented to the users. Apr 2001- Technical Specialist - Network Management Initially responsible for the detailed design and strategy of Network Management solutions with the Satellite area and providing consultancy and input to the terrestrial management requirements. I was also heavily involved with software design and development of bespoke managed networks. 1999-Apr 2001 Senior IT / Control Project Manager Responsible for design, implementation, commissioning and subsequent support of all Control and Monitoring systems installed at all Satellite Earth Stations for a leading communications company. Additional responsibilities were to ensure the development of windows based applications for custom solutions. 1997-1998 IT / Control Project Manager. Responsible for design, implementation, commissioning and subsequent support of all Control and Monitoring systems installed at all Satellite Earth Stations for a leading communications company. Computer Skills I have written software in both high and low level languages on the PC, (I am able to program in BASIC, Pascal, Assembler and to a lesser extent in C and C++), I currently use Object Pascal (Borland Delphi) to write programs for Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and now Windows XP. I was involved in a multi-site video contribution system with full control and monitoring from a central location. This system had a requirement for an easy to use, intuative scheduler to allow the customer to control the system. I developed the scheduler that is used to control this system. This Scheduler was adopted by a leading communications company and has been used successfully by a large French TV broadcaster successfully since 1999 for a large proportion of their news transmissions. I have written a complete Billing software suite to allow invoicing of occasional use satellite transmissions and to automatically create invoice reports at monthly intervals. I am familiar with TCP/IP protocols, Sockets, LAN/WAN and Client Server architectures. I can write scripts in SQL and are experienced in Relational Datbase Management Systems using primarily InterBase as the Database engine. Interrests KOI Carp keeping: I have a medium sized pond at home in which I keep a collection of Golden Orfe, Goldfish and KOI Carp. Caravanning: For holidays, I have a 17 foot touring caravan which I use to visit various parts of the country. Software Development: I write software for the tourism and leisure industries. |
